The EU might “respond swiftly and decisively” against what it calls “unjustified” travel bans issued by the United States on five Europeans involved in fighting digital hatred and disinformation, an EU official stated.
EU Officials Decry US Action as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including the French president accused the US administration of “bullying and threats”, after the travel bans were placed on individuals that were at the heart of efforts to introduce laws governing US-based technology firms.
“For too long, European activists have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” stated a senior US official online. “The current administration will not stand for such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”

Germany, Spain, the UK and a chorus of EU officials supported France in condemning the move.
