The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the team reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
